Introduced in 1958, this Heuer Super-Autavia dashboard timer was originally developed as a dashboard-mounted timer, and was historically designed for racing, power boating, and aviation purposes.

This Heuer Super-Autavia dashboard is accompanied by a remarkably satisfying set of additional materials, including its original box, booklet, and extra parts.

The Design

As is detailed within the included booklet, the timers are differentiated from each other by white hands and white-lettered divisions, while the recording time has red hands and red divisions. The “Time of Day” can be read through a traditional clock face, with a hacking sub-seconds mechanism available when the crown is pulled out, allowing the time to be set to a reference source. The “Time of Trip” can be read through the movement of the red needle around the markers on the rotating bezel, which offers extra timing capabilities.

The dial also features two sub-dials at the twelve o’clock and six o’clock markers which represent the minute and seconds counters respectively. Operated by two pushers, the crown button stops and starts the stopwatch, while the pusher on the right resets the stopwatch hands to zero. Despite its age, the colours and markings of this Heuer Super-Autavia Dashboard remain clear and bright, with little to no signs of wear.
